When we were planning our month- long stay near Houston, Texas, we had a few priorities when it came to choosing a place to stay. We were going to be with family for the holidays, so we knew we wanted to be close to them. We also wanted to make sure there was something for our son to do (playground, pool, etc.) Cost was, and always is, another major factor in our decisions. Jackie’s Place RV Resort in Bacliff, TX checked all those boxes.

Jackie’s Place RV Resort is located right off highway 146, just 8 minutes from Kemah Boardwalk and 45 minutes from downtown Houston. We were also only 25 minutes from our family’s house and 30 minutes to Galveston, TX. NASA’s Space Center Houston was only 20 minutes away as well. It was a perfect location for exploring everything Houston and south of Houston has to offer.
The RV resort was meticulously maintained. In our month-long stay, we never saw trash on the ground and the landscaping was attended to on a regular schedule. The pool was always clean and inviting as well. While we were there in November, the pool was barely used. We used it once before Texas started experiencing its version of winter weather (they would get snow after we left).
Every site is paved and offers a parking pad for your vehicle (tow or toad). Every site also has full hookups. They offered both 30- and 50-amp electricity and the pedestals were all newer. A nice “touch” was the hooks to hang the extra slack of hose or power cords (I don’t suggest doing the power cord. Another topic for another time.)

The pads all seem about the same size. We were on the outer edge of the campground, so we had a fence behind us. Our 35’ rig fit but it was a perfect fit. The inner sites seemed to have more room behind them so you could get bigger rigs into those. We did see large fifth wheels on the outer loop and the kingpins were almost in the street. Luckily the streets are wide, so they never seemed in danger of being hit accidentally.
Maneuvering into our site was more difficult than I expected. The sites are all angled, but because we had no room behind our site, it made getting the RV straight on the pad a tedious task. Also, it left us with little room in front of us to move forward as there were RV’s and cars in the sites in front. It seemed that we weren’t the only ones to struggle a bit but at the end of the day, everyone made it work.

The RV resort had a nice clean laundry room as well. The dumpsters are conveniently located at the front on your way out. They also have a gym near the pool as well as a clubhouse with a pool table and a big screen TV. By the pool was a bathhouse if you choose not to use your RV’s. Jackie’s Place is dog friendly and there are 3 dog waste stations located throughout the resort. They were also very strict about picking up after dogs, which as dog owners, we appreciate.
The cost of Jackie’s Place RV Resort was the biggest factor in our choosing to stay here. $450 for a month long stay plus electricity. They took a $150 deposit for the electricity, and we got back $98. Our AC ran during the day and our space heater ran for a few hours a night before going to bed. We let our furnace kick on at night. In case you’re wondering, $450/ month breaks down to $15/ night. For a clean, well maintained, well lit, pool, laundry, etc. that is an amazing price. Not to mention the convenient location to just about everything we wanted to do.

If you’ve read my other campground reviews, you know that I never write a review without mentioning any cons. While Jackie’s Place RV Resort offered pretty much everything we were looking for, it was missing a couple of things.
The first was a playground. I loved that they had a pool and a pool table but besides that, there was nothing else for our son to do within the campground. However, there were plenty of parks with playgrounds in the surrounding area, having one on the property would obviously be much more convenient.
Another was the usable space in your site. The rules stated that you had to park your vehicle on the parking pad provided and not on the street. While some didn’t follow this rule, we try our best to follow every rule. The rules also stated we couldn’t leave anything on the small patch of grass as it would interfere with the landscapers. This meant, we had no room to set up our outdoor kitchen. This was a big disappointment as I love to cook outside. I also love to sit outside and watch a game, read a book, etc. and there was no room for that either.

Lastly, the area behind my rig was a water drainage area. After a rainstorm it left the area very muddy. Our power and water pedestal were in the middle of the mud unfortunately. Every time we left, and I went to turn the water off, I stepped in a good couple of inches of mud until it dried a few days (at best) later. I appreciate the water draining from the road and such but for the sake of getting to my water and my tank valves, it was frustrating.
The water drainage and pooling behind our site and next to our site created a haven for mosquitos. They were brutal. Even after the mud dried, while standing outside waiting for a tank to drain, I had about 10 mosquito bites. There were times where I had 5 or more latched on at a time. Even if I had the room to be outside reading or watching a game, I don’t think I would’ve lasted long before the mosquitos chased me inside.

Overall, we really liked Jackie’s Place RV Resort. The people were super friendly. They asked more than once if we wanted to extend our stay. Had we not had plans already in Florida, we may have taken them up on it. Due to its location, I can honestly say that we will be back again when visiting our family. For the price, I think we got more than we could’ve asked for. The price and the friendly staff outweighed just about every negative I mentioned earlier.
If you’re going to be in the Houston area, especially south of Houston, I highly recommend Jackie’s Place. Especially for a long-term stay. If you’re looking to stay short- term, their rates are $45/ night and $198/week. Even at those prices for shorter stays, I still think you can’t go wrong.
